HEAD FOR THE TUNNEL

CANUNGRA is often just a passing point for many of us heading out west, but it’s the perfect place to stop in for a quick bite to eat or drink if the kids are already restless.

Lahey’s Canungra Tramway Tunnel is also close at hand, just to your left on Beaudesert Nerang Road before you enter the township. Part of the Queensland Heritage Register, the 90m tunnel was hand-built in the early 1900s so that logging trains could pass through.

Now the tunnel is closed off, but you can still reach out, have a look and read an information board about a small part of our history.
