Bailey jumps at Lions deal

-

LION cub Zac Bailey wants to be in the thick of the good times ahead at the Gabba and had no hesitation re-signing with Brisbane until the end of the 2021 AFL season.

The 18-year-old was taken at pick No.15 in last year’s draft and the All-Australian under-18 representative made his senior debut in Round 4 when Brisbane took on reigning premiers Richmond at the MCG.

Originally from the Northern Territory before moving to South Australia for his last year of school, the speedy midfielder has gone on to play 10 matches at the top level, kicking four goals and averaging 17 disposals a game.

“It’s a pretty bright future for the club so that’s something I want to be a part of,” Bailey said.

“It’s really exciting. All the boys have been really good to me and all the coaching staff and I’ve really enjoyed my time here.”

Bailey’s two-year contract extension follows on from Cameron Rayner, Hugh McCluggage, Alex Witherden, Toby Wooller and Allen Christensen all extending their deals with Brisbane. Brisbane’s general manager of football David Noble said Bailey has demonstrated tremendous potential in his short time at the Lions.
