Just don’t mention Cup
TWO things irk Roger Federer more than squandered opportunity.
At 36, he appreciates every opportunity – on and off the court – that comes his way.
On most occasions, nothing could cloud a 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 Centre Court romp at Wimbledon.
But as the grand slam maestro yesterday reflected on a second-round pasting of Slovak Lukas Lacko, his mood darkened as the Swiss football team’s World Cup exit in Russia was raised.
“I was disappointed yesterday,” Federer said. “I expected more from the team. But that’s the thing with knockout.
“When you have to bring it like it was the finals every match, it’s 11 guys at the same time. Yeah, I felt it’s an opportunity missed.”
