COOKIE’S HALF-WAY HOME FOR ALL TIME

- KATE PARASKEVOS kate.paraskevos@news.com.au

WHEN adorable 19-yearold Maltese terrier Cookie was in desperate need of a place to call home after his family abandoned him to move overseas, foster carer Charlotte Seaward couldn’t bear to give him up.

A public call-out asked for a family to open their heart and home to the “loving” senior dog but after spending a few weeks fostering Cookie, Ms Seaward fell in love.

“The intention wasn’t to keep him, but after spending time with him, I knew he deserved a loving home,” she said.

When he first came to her, Ms Seaward said Cookie spent “day and night” sleeping and had a lot of accidents inside but had now developed into a curious and loving pup with “a new lease on life”.

“We adopted another elderly Maltese dog Molly as well, who is 15, so they have bonded and it’s like the blind leading the blind. He’s a typical old man, but they get along so well and enjoy each other’s company very much.

“It’s wonderful to see him embracing his new life.”
