‘He owes our son $56,000’

- CAMPBELL GELLIE

THE ex-wife of award-winning chef Luke Turner, the former owner of failed restaurant Providore Marina Mirage, says she is owed more than $56,000 in child support.

But Selena Brown said she did not expect to receive a cent from Mr Turner after his business went into liquidation last week.

Suppliers and former staff claim they are owed thousands of dollars after Providore Marina Mirage and Providore Bulimba went into liquidation.

Ms Brown’s Department of Human Services account reveals that as of yesterday she was owed $56,000 in child support for their 13-year-old son Oliver.

Human Services documents shown to the Bulletin by Ms Brown reveal that while operating the now-failed business, Mr Turner had a taxable income of $180,400 a year.

“Our son Oliver is a specialneeds child and his dad won’t pay a cent,” Ms Brown said.

“He wasn’t paying a cent when he was earning that much so I don’t think I will get anything now.”

Ms Brown said the collapse of his business was a big fall for her ex-husband, who won the 2004 International Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition Final in Calgary, Canada.

Company records reveal Mr Turner’s mother Dawn was appointed the director of the two businesses.

Ms Brown said the restaurants were registered in Mrs Turner’s name because Mr Turner had previously gone bankrupt following the liquidation of his previous business Good Purveyor in October, 2016.

“I feel sorry for Dawn because she put her name on the business trying to help her son,” Ms Brown said.

This followed the liquidation of another business in Mr Turner’s name, Chubby Duck, which had its principle place of business at Providore Marina Mirage in March 2015.

Mr Turner and Mrs Turner have not returned the Gold Coast Bulletin’s calls.
