DETERMINATION OVER ADVERSITY

-

BRITTANY Morris is someone who knows about overcoming adversity. A talented equestrian, she scored a role as a seven-year-old riding horses as a stunt double in the popular series The Saddle Club and was bitten by the performing bug. “I’ve always loved horses and my family is filled with entertainers so it was only natural that I would want to act,” she explained. However a series of unusual physical ailments have slowed her progress. Firstly it was discovered that she was born with an extra rib, a rare condition that crushed her carotid artery when she moved her arm. At 18 she had that fixed only to then suffer constant shoulder dislocation. “I had to have both shoulders reconstructed and spent three years without being able to move my arms. I refused to give up on riding so against all advice I got back in the saddle. That somehow gave me back some movement so I kept at it and to the astonishment of my surgeon I have full movement.” Things are finally looking up because Brittany has been invited over to England to work as an actress and continue her stunt work with horses. Perseverance pays off.
