A-League’s Coast snub
FOOTBALL Gold Coast general manager Damien Bresic admits he’s disappointed Cbus Super Stadium won’t host an A-League game in 2018-19 but remains philosophical.
The draw was released yesterday and unlike last season when a date clash at Suncorp Stadium prompted a game to be switched to the Gold Coast, Brisbane won’t be taking any fixtures south.
On the back of Gold Coast United’s omission from the next stage of bidding in the ALeague expansion race, the absence of an elite contest could be seen as a snub to the region.
Bresic, though, is playing the long game.
“Distance makes the heart grow fonder and when we finally get an A-League team back here it will make it all the more worthwhile,” he said.
“I’m disappointed but we’re used to the fact we only get games when the Roar have to move away from Suncorp.”
