BRITISH OPEN

THE Open Championship gets under way in Scotland next Thursday, with the Ladbrokes betting market incredibly competitive.

Dustin Johnson struggled at the British Open last year, but he is on top of the betting market at $13.

Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy are all on the second line of betting at $17, from Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood at $21.

No Australian has won the tournament since Greg Norman in 1993 and the market suggests that drought will continue for another year. Jason Day is the most fancied Aussie at $26, while the consistent Marc Leishman is a touch of value at $41.

The out-of-form Adam Scott is an $81 outsider to claim a second Major.

One Ladbrokes punter keen on the chances of Webb Simpson has had $700 on the American at the odds of $151 to land a sixfigure collect.

?? ?? HIGH HOPES: Jason Day is rated best Aussie for the British Open, while Novak Djokovic is in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
