Slumping Blues don’t like Fridays

-

BRENDON Bolton admits Carlton’s plight is the greatest challenge of his coaching career but says the club’s support of him has been unwavering.

The Blues tonight will try to avoid another Friday Fright Night against St Kilda, after 11 straight Friday night defeats.

They have finally recalled 200cm forward Harry McKay, 20, but Bolton said it was due to his training continuity, not a reaction to fans angry at his continued absence.

Defenders Kade Simpson (calf) and Caleb Marchbank (elevated heart rate) will play but Matthew Wright (soreness) and Jacob Weitering (calf) won’t. McKay has played three games since Round 10 because of illness and VFL byes.

“What I will do is give you the story of Harry McKay,’’ Bolton said. “Very young in his draft, hampered by a back injury and then a significant turf toe injury, so his first two years were practically a wipe-out in terms of his training.

“He was hampered in preseason and built consistency and got AFL games and he went out of the team and since there hasn’t been a lot of continuity.”
