Sims’ madness moment

-

FEARING what Tariq Sims could do next, his St George Illawarra teammate Ben Hunt let out a cry for mercy.

The pair were pitted against each other in Origin on Wednesday and collided in what turned out to be a crucial penalty. As they scrimmaged on the floor, Hunt yelled out: “It’s me, Simsy. It’s me, Simsy.”

Sims said: “I heard him on the ground saying it. That was about it. I didn’t know who it was until I looked down.”

With NSW having been starved of possession for most of the first half before somehow going into the break with a 12-8 lead, Sims gave away a 50th-minute penalty when he charged at Hunt in the marker position. The penalty proved to be pivotal in the match.
