Preparing myself for the Elvis impersonators in Surfers this weekend sitting on their toilets chewing down their burgers. History shows Elvis was an unashamed, politically incorrect racist. I find this celebration offensive. - Jedda

I've recently taken up fishing again to not much success and have noticed something different from me to other anglers. If I get a BCF type fishing shirt will this help me? Is it like putting Lycra on to go for a ride? PalmyPunka

Hey cane toad...Obviously you have never watched a winning Wallabies bledisloe game...yes l have seen a few and NZ comments are just that (one eyed ) ..watch the Wallabies win in Sydney next month.

Who was the genius in the State Government who directed the City Council to prepare flood maps of the city for a 0.8m rise in sea level by the year 2100? It appears that half of the GC is underwater in the new maps, to the horror of residents and to the delight of insurers. Where did the figure of 0.8 come from, what studies does it relate to or is it a convenient number for a scaremongering campaign from the climate change true believers? This Labor Government can't get the annual budget numbers right but apparently can see 80 odd years into the future. GT

HR. So what are you saying? Was it your generation that invented plastic? Shame. Never mind. We're correcting the mistakes of our forefathers. Dave

The resultant danger of flooding revealed in the new flood maps is hardly surprising due to all the development built on flood plains, but the council doesn't seem to care as long as it brings in developer money!!! with more to come. Those flood plains were there for a reason. Once these are built on, the water can only spread over a wider area,

Well said Stan, Letter/Editor 13/7,Mr Ciobo, do you understand, are you reading clearly? Do what you've been told, it's your job and you might get to steal your pay packet for another term. TL

How soft are these judges? 8 times caught drink driving and gets a fine and 10 months disqualification. He should be banned for life to hold a car license. Maybe it will be an example for other drink drivers.

A big big thank you for the "Letter of the Week Book" I won a while back. The book was The Woman In The Window by A.J.Finn. What a great read it was & the first book I've read in years. Thanks If Graeme Lee Coghlan gets in a car next week and kills someone is the judge that did not jail him after his 8th drunk driving charge responsible? I think he should be. Mr c

Given the current lack of civility in Federal politics, perhaps it's time we looked at their oath of office. What purpose does it serve, what legal standing does it have, does it commit to a standard of behaviour, does it have a different meaning regardless of whether you are an independent or a party member. Food for thought. Off to the high court??. GT

Hmmmm, Lifesavers, Oddfellows, Heards, Black Knight licorice. Can't wait to be able to see these in on Aussie shelves, Hmmmm. Jus Saying, GC

Yes there has been a more one-eyed individual than Cyclops (GCB 14/7) and his name is Fatty Vautin. Painful listening to his lopsided personal preferences and not a decent call. Blue Cockroach.

People whinging about GCUH and Robina hospitals that are luxury with excellent nursing staff. Spend a week in old Tweed hospital, dark grubby wards where men and women patients share the same wards and loudmouth GenY nurses and that yuck food. Be thankful for GCUH and Robina hospitals, you are very lucky. Ken.

Onya Billy Slater .... a deseving winner. Apart from being a champion footy player, no drunken rants,.no drugs, no sledging, no post-try acrobats - and no hideous tattoos. Queensland Rob

My wife and I retired 10 yrs ago with 300K in super. With pension we have approx. $1000 a week to live on and our super balance is up. Where do the experts get their figures? 640k for a couple is total BS! Marty

So they are now saying that there were other Adam and Eves in different parts of the world. I saw a transgender Adam/Eve at Main Beach. Does this mean a new species of mankind? But then I'm just a mushroom like everyone else. Kept in the dark and fed bullsh..

Skin colour, be proud in ur skin, we all bleed RED. 4cr

When I was a kid there were no supermarkets like today and no plastic bags to pack your groceries in. There was a grocer and a green grocer, ie fruit & veg. Most items requiring packing were rolled up in newspaper. Eggs were separated wrapped in tissue Paper. I used to sell our old newspapers to the green grocer and on a good day I would receive 2 pence a pound. TV had just arrived and not every home had a phone or car. I would carry the groceries home in a little tartan trolley. Naturally on foot. How the times have changed! PFT
