HARRY RUNNING THE SHOW FOR IN-FORM BOND

- CONNOR O’BRIEN connor.obrien@news.com.au

A FOCUS on improving his running game has allowed Harry Nucifora to bring another dimension to the table for Bond University’s attack.

The scrumhalf has scored six tries in his past six games including a double in the Bullsharks’ 48-17 defeat of Sunnybank on Saturday.

Bond are walking the tightrope as the Queensland Premier Rugby regular season enters its final fortnight. They are within a point of Easts and Souths but are the only one of the trio yet to have their second bye.

The Bullsharks held up their end of the bargain at Oldmac Oval anyway, flying out of the blocks to secure a bonus point by halftime.

Nucifora scored from a brilliant solo effort against Souths a week ago and was in fine form again to trouble the Dragons.

“It’s been good to get the running game going,” said the 21-year-old Bachelor of Property student. “It is one of the areas of my game that I wanted to work on a fair bit so yeah it is pleasing to get a few tries out of that.”

Also bagging two tries was fullback Joey Fittock, who enjoyed going head-to-head with his former club including ex-housemate Freddy Dorrough.

“They had a pretty good battle but I think Joey might have gotten it over him a little bit,” Nucifora said.

While their attack continues to fire, Bond’s defence has also seen a marked improvement. After averaging 31 points conceded up to Round 12, they have let in only 17.5 a game through their past four matches.

“Seiby (assistant coach Rod Seib) has been doing a really good job for us in just our connection at all times and working on our inside man hunting has been pretty key to us,” Nucifora said.

“We have just been working really hard to shut all of that stuff down.”
