HOW TRIP TO SHOPS BECAME NIGHT AWAY

- LEA EMERY

A SIMPLE trip to get groceries landed Insta-famous bikie Ben “Notorious” Geppert back in custody less than a week after he was released.

Geppert, a former Hells Angels member, spent Sunday night in the Southport Watchhouse after he was caught breaching a banning order which stopped him from visiting Robina Town Centre.

Geppert, 26, was released yesterday afternoon after pleading guilty in Southport Magistrates Court to one count of trespass. The former bikie smiled as he left the watchhouse dressed in bright orange tracksuit pants and a black hoodie.

The Robina man is alleged to have been caught on CCTV on Thursday – two days after being released from custody – doing some grocery shopping at the Robina Town Centre’s Woolworths store.

Geppert was issued a five-year banning notice for the centre in May.

The court heard security guards spoke to Geppert and asked him to leave and he did so without a fuss.

The former bikie has become famous on Instagram through girlfriend Allaina Vader and feuds with former Bandidos member Brett Peachy.

Geppert was not arrested until Sunday after Taskforce Maxima police were contacted.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan chose not to further punish Geppert, who spent one night in the watchhouse for the offence.

She also chose not to activate the suspended sentence given to him last Tuesday over a brawl in a KFC parking lot.

“I am not going to resentence on that,” she said. “It is not like offending.”

Defence lawyer Cameron Browne, of Potts Lawyers, said Geppert was committed to continuing on the right path and trying to find work as an electrician.

“With this occasion it is a case that he has been released, he is, in his words, ‘feeling great’ his life is great and he hasn’t given this order its due,” Mr Browne said.

Mr Browne said Geppert was willing to do community service to give back if the court desired.

During the 15 minute appearance in court, Geppert remained silent and was supported by his longterm partner Ms Vader, who sat quietly in the back of court.
