ALAN HAS PLENTY OF RUNS ON BOARD
ALAN Reid is proving age is just a number when it comes to representing his country in a sport he loves.
Even if that means sometimes having to “take anti-inflammatories, strap yourself up and go”.
Reid will represent Australia’s over-70s cricket team when it tours the UK this month.
The right-hand batsman, from SA, will be part of a 14game tour across five weeks – 11 against county teams and three against England.
“My knee blows up a bit sometimes and sometimes the arm gets sore when I bowl, but you just handle that,” Reid, of Malvern, says.
“Everyone plays with injuries of one sort or another.
“We play 45-over games, or 50 when we play England. So it is pretty tiring.”
