HUSAR’S EXCUSE DOESN’T STACK UP

-

IF FEDERAL Labor MP Emma Husar is right, we should expect a single mum to be a workplace bully who makes staff pick up her dog’s droppings.

How else to explain Husar’s constant excuses for her alleged bad behaviour?

On Tuesday she did it yet again.

“I’m a single mum,” she declared in announcing she was taking leave while allegations against her were dealt with.

Does Husar realise she insults all single mothers by playing this victim card?

Husar is being investigated by the NSW Labor Party after 20 former staffers provided statements detailing her alleged bullying.

Twenty former staff is damning enough, given Husar has been in politics for only two years and can employ only four staff at a time.

Then there are the complaints. They include claims that one staffer helps do Husar’s housekeeping – presumably the woman photographed this week picking up the excrement of Husar’s big dog.

Others reportedly include Husar swearing and shouting at staff and telling one to do the dishes to learn about his “white male privilege”.

Husar has said she’s “horrified” by the allegations and disputes them.

But from the start she’s hidden behind her singlemotherhood.

“I am a single mum with three children, working hard and doing my best,” she said and her supporters repeat that excuse.

“Watching all the sick social media trolls salvate (sic) at the struggles of a strong, single mother,” complained former Labor Senator Sam Dastyari in a tweet that added: “I’m making a TV show about this for Ten.”

Sure, Husar is a single mum with three children, one autistic, and it’s tough to balance family duties with her full-on job.

But does being a single mum excuse allegedly foul language, bullying and churning through 20 staff in two years?

Does it really excuse a politician on $200,000 a year using taxpayer-funded staff to do her house duties?

Find another excuse, Emma.
