SURF FORECAST

POWERED BY COASTALWATCH

-

SSE swell fades into the end of the week, leaving tiny NE windchop as the dominant source of surf at about ft across southern Queensland all weekend.

Northern NSW should fare only slightly better as tiny levels of background S swell range from 1 to 2ft at the magnets as early NW winds make for mostly clean conditions at south facing beaches. A WSW change brings clean conditions across the entire coast although an easing trend in minor NE swell will be evident resulting in tiny to flat conditions late Monday, early Tuesday.

TODAY

Residual SSE swell up to 1 to 2ft exposed northern NSW coasts, fading during the day. Wrapping into southern Qld exposed breaks at 1ft or less and grading to flat inside the points and bays. WIND: NW 5 to 15 knots tending NNW to N and freshening to 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon.

TOMORROW

Slight NE windswell mixing with background S swell. Around 1ft+ exposed open beaches, otherwise tiny or virtually flat elsewhere. WIND: Early NW to NNW 10 to 15 knots, tending north in the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Slight NE windswell mixing with background S swell at 1ft or so exposed open beaches, otherwise verging on flat elsewhere. WIND: NNW 10 to 20 knots, tending north later.

MONDAY

Slight S swell up to 1 to 2ft at northern NSW south facing beaches early, possibly bumping up later in the day. Virtually flat to 1ft across southern Qld coasts. WIND: WSW 15 to 20 knots tending SW in the afternoon.

TUESDAY

New South groundswell builds in. Tiny early, rising 2 to 3ft northern NSW exposed areas in the afternoon. Rising 1 to 2ft at exposed Gold Coast beaches, otherwise near-flat on the open coasts and inside the points. WIND: Early SW 10 to 15 knots tending westerly.
