FAST FASHION IN BAG AT H&M
SWEDISH mega retailer H&M throws open the doors today to its latest Down Under store at the revamped Robina shopping centre.
Despite broader tough retail conditions within the Australian market, the brand famous for its “fast fashion” approach has shown a penchant for Queensland, with the new Gold Coast location its ninth store in the Sunshine State.
H&M country manager Hans Andersson said Australian expansion was continuing for the brand, with new stores set to open in Adelaide, Melbourne and Newcastle by Christmas, though there were no concrete plans for further Queensland stores.
“We see Robina as a great fit for H&M, adding to our Gold Coast portfolio with our Pacific Fair store,” he said.
“Robina is a fantastic shopping destination on the Gold Coast and we are excited to have found the right location in the centre.”
Robina H&M will employ about 50 staff initially, with today’s grand opening expected to attract hundreds of eager shoppers.
Mr Andersson said the company was expecting both tourists and locals to check out the new offering, which includes clothing and accessories for women, men and kids.
“The Gold Coast has a great mix of both a large local population and international tourists,” he said.
“We welcome all shoppers, and can’t wait to meet both our current shoppers and new customers on opening day.”
