Leftover S swell steadily drops. Initially 2 to 3ft+ across northern NSW south facing coasts, easing during the afternoon. Mixing with background ESE groundswel­l at 1 to 2ft exposed southern Qld beaches, grading smaller elsewhere with size depending on exposure. WIND: Light WNW to NW inshore early, tending N 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon.

TOMORROW

Mix of leftover S swell and background ESE swell. Up to a slow 1 to 2ft max exposed breaks, grading tiny or near flat elsewhere. WIND: Light offshore WNW to NW early, tending N around 10 to 15 knots, then WNW later.

FRIDAY

Potential for new S swell up to 1 to 2ft+ northern NSW southern exposures, speculativ­ely picking up towards 2 to 3ft during the afternoon. Mixing with background E swell at 1ft exposed southern Qld coasts, otherwise virtually flat. WIND: Early light W to SW, tending variable, then NE 5 to 15 knots later.

SATURDAY

Potential for slight S swell ranging from 1 to 3ft northern NSW southern exposures, grading smaller elsewhere. Around 1ft exposed Qld breaks, otherwise virtually flat elsewhere. WIND: Early light offshore land-breezes tending variable during the day, then N to NE 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Directiona­l, short-period S swell up to 1 to 2ft northern NSW south facing beaches, speculativ­ely building towards 2 to 3ft during the afternoon. Otherwise virtually flat across southern Qld exposed coasts. WIND: Early W 10 to 15 knots, tending WSW/SW and freshening to 15 to 25 knots during the afternoon.

MONDAY

Potential for rising S swell, building from 3 to 4ft across northern NSW south facing coast towards 4 to 6ft+ during the afternoon. Speculativ­ely wrapping at 1 to 2ft across southern QLD beaches, picking up to 2 to 3ft later. Grading smaller elsewhere with size depending on exposure. WIND: WSW 15 to 20 knots, tending SW and freshening later.
