THE future of Gold Coast surfing is looking rock solid after super impressive results from the state School Surfing and Grommet titles.
Palm Beach Currumbin High School have taken top honours in the recent state school titles to earn bragging rights as having the best surfing students in Queensland.
Year 11 student Josh Boyle claimed the blue ribbon event, taking out the open boys under-19 final and paired successfully to win the MR Shield.
Boyle produced a consistently outstanding performance throughout the threeday competition.
PBC made a clean sweep of both the age categories in girls and guys in the prestige MR Shield teams event named after four-time consecutive world champion Mark Richards of Newcastle.
Boyle claimed a double victory by combining with fellow PBC student Thomas Carvalho to take out the under-19 boys MR Shield while PBC followed up in the under-19 girls team with Shaye Leeuwendal and Eden Gray.
PBC continued their dominance in the under-16 boys with Archie Curtis and Jackson Graham, and taking out the under-16 girls with Lucy Tandler and Raya Campbell.
What an awesome effort from the school that prides itself on sport excellence and have had world champions like Mick Fanning as a former student.
Burleigh Boardrider Josh Grange, from All Saints, won the under-16 individual boys final.
Gold Coast will have a strong representation in the Australian school titles at Victor Harbour in December.
Representatives include Raya Campbell, Lucy Tandler, Shaye Leeuwendal, Eden Gray, Jackson Graham, Archie Curtis, Josh Grange, Thomas Carvalho, Josh Boyle and Kelly Parker.

Fresh from a surfing holiday with his family in the Maldives, Ty Richardson (Palm Beach) was on fire to win a super close final from Matt Boyle, the younger brother of Josh (Currumbin Waters) in the under-14 boys.
In the under-14 girls Grace Kama (Elanora) was a clear winner over Charlotte Mulley (Miami, Qld).
In the under-12 boys, Rico Haybittle (Palm Beach) won with Scott Arderne (Tugun) in third. The second round is on the Gold Coast in September and the under-14 result will be used for selection for the Australian junior titles in South Australia.
