BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS
WE first met the remarkable Simone Fraser during an interview when she was a promising student at Bond University. Today she is a respected barrister and member of the French Quarter Chambers with her husband Andrew. Those achievements in law are impressive but, confined as she is to a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy, it is her attitude to life that really sets her apart. Seeing her at the Support the Girls Ball we reminded her of a quote during that interview. “I make a point of being as cheerful and easy going as I can be when I meet people. The reason is that if an encounter with someone who is in a wheelchair is unpleasant, the average person immediately presumes that all of us are like that. It is my way of breaking down any barriers that might exist,” she said.
