Alex powers ahead

ALEXANDER Adams has always fancied himself as a bit of a frustrated inventor.

“I’ve come form a bit of a tech background and call myself a frustrated inventor,” the electrical contractor said.

And like all frustrated inventors he tends to focus on the basics, why isn’t the world an easier place.

So he formed FLEQS Electrical.

“I was sitting at a campfire with my wife and I pitched this idea to her and she said ‘that’s brilliant’,” he said.

And being a man smart enough to craft a clever business idea and wise enough not to ignore his wife, Mr Adams put a plan in place.

He said as an electrical contractor he realised that there came a time when some home basics, such as fans and electrical outlets, started to look tired.

“For the past eight years as a contractor, doing all things electrical, we noticed a gap in the industry between product and client,” he said.

Over the past two years we have been creating a simplified solution to all the grey areas that affect every home, unit, office and premises with electrical products.

“With most industries joining the online revolution, why not electricians?”

With home renovation programs like The Block inspiring many Gold Coasters to try their hands at home renovation, which often meant getting an electrical contractor in to update light switches and power points, Mr Adams said he set out to simplify this side of the industry.

The first step was simplify the product range and provide a set of products that covered the needs of as many people as possible.

“The big questions that people find make getting this type of service an inconvenience are what products are out there, what products do you recommend, how much does it cost, and what time can you fit me in,” Mr Adams said.

“This is a company that puts everyday items into a system designed to make the complexity of repairs/ change overs simple from start to finish.

“We are keeping up with technology changes and trends and giving our users choice according to their style, budget and taste.

“This is breaking the barrier and finally having a fixed price. You know what product you’re getting and the total cost installed. One price. No call out fee, no hourly rates, no complexities.

“Taking the unpleasant surprises out of the equation. The reason most people avoid getting this work done in the first place.”

At the heart of FLEQS is an online, continually updating booking calendar that allows customers to see where the businesses contractors are and what their schedules are.

“This means that can book our contractors at a time that suits them rather than having to wait at home during a time window that could cover several hours,” Mr Adams said.

“Sometimes in life things do go wrong but one of our foundation tenets is to always turn up on time.

“We also allow people to pick a Flexi Option so while they can favour a particular time, if they are flexible we call them and can turn up ahead of schedule.

“We have allowed above and beyond the time for installation of each item to try and make sure our booking system works.

“I had someone tell me I’m the Dominos pizza of electrical!”
