• Lawton was a schoolboy star for Palm Beach Currumbin, playing at halfback as the school claimed a state title in the then-Arrive Alive Cup before bowing out in the national semi-finals.

• Found himself in the middle of drama early in his NRL career when the Titans chased Robbie Farah, leaving the hooker in the dark about his future at the club.

• After multiple injuries and losing a love of the game, Lawton pursued bodybuilding for a year before heading to France to play.
