MOVIE maker extraordinaire Phil Avalon (pictured) is usually an unstoppable force when it comes to completing a project. However when it came to putting his life story down it was a different matter. “I had been commissioned to write my biography, From Steel City to Hollywood, but was constantly getting stuck. One of my friends is Olga Kay, a former Russian ballet dancer, and she went out and bought a tape recorder and then forced me to tell a story on tape every day for three months. It worked, I got all my stories down and the publisher is happy so I had to find a way to thank her. My next film is a remake of Summer City, the 1977 film which launched Mel Gibson’s career so when we start shooting in February Olga will be one of my extras.”
