Divers’ Grand Prix golden moment
GOLD Coast diver Domonic Bedggood may have added another gold to his cabinet but he’s still looking to improve.
Bedggood, 24, along with Annabelle Smith, 25, took out the 3m mixed synchronised at the FINA Diving Grand Prix held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre yesterday.
In their first competition to- gether, the pair of best friends finished on 280.56, over 11 points ahead of second-placed Canada.
“To compete beside Annabelle was amazing and it was really good to win beside her,” he said. “Overall, we’re really happy with our performance.”
Although celebrating the win, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist is looking forward to getting back to training and stepping up to the next level, using each dive as a learning opportunity.
“Like after every competition you walk away looking at what you could do better,” Bedggood said.
“I’m excited to hit training and work on filling in those gaps. I’ll continue to train hard next year and continue to practice heading towards the next Olympics.”
The Grand Prix was Bedggood’s final international competition for the year.
The Grand Prix ran from Thursday through to yesterday and has seen athletes from 10 countries competing across nine events.
Australia has seen success, also claiming gold in the women’s 3m synchronised springboard, 10m platform and the men’s 3m springboard as well as several silvers in the women’s 3m springboard and men’s 10m platform.
