COSTA’S WINNING WEEKEND: P30

- ALEXANDRA BERNARD @Bernard_Lexie

GOLD Coast trainer Michael Costa has hit a rich vein of form with six wins from eight starts over two days.

Costa took away three wins at Murwillumbah on Friday, before two at the Gold Coast and another at Doomben on Saturday.

“It’s been pretty excitingit’s good to have winners everywhere,” he said.

At the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday, Costa claimed two wins with jockey Scott Galloway.

Iron Dome recorded its maiden win from four starts in the Austral Insulation Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap (1200m).

The four-year-old went into the race as the favourite and Costa was confident.

“We expected a positive result,” he said.

Costa said the nature of the win is a sign of a successful future ahead for the horse.

“It was a very easy win and a good way to kick off at the start of preparation. The horse has shown a lot of promise and we’ve been patient with it,” he said.

“This is a good stepping stone to move onto bigger and better things.”

True Myth also headed in as the favourite for the Hanson Imagecrete BM60 Handicap (1200m) and claimed a convincing win.

New Breed racing had about one third of its horses racing across the weekend and Costa said to rack up so many wins was a huge achievement.

“It was really good to get six winners in the course of about 24 hours,” he said.

Murwillumbah was particularly successful, with all three starters La Pulga, Deep Blue Sea and Smug Satisfaction recording wins.
