CREATIVE COMPETITION AT HILTON

-

SAGE Owen is usually a food and beverage attendant, but yesterday she tested out her barista skills.

The Hilton Surfers Paradise employee was one of 15 battling it out for a place at the annual Hilton F&B Masters competition, which is open to all internal employees.

Just one spot per category – culinary, bar, barista and wine – is available to employees at each Hilton across Australasia, who then go on to the regional finals.

Ms Owen said she entered under the barista category and made a white chocolate and ginger cappuccino because she makes delicious coffee.

“That’s part of the fun with F&B Masters, because you get to compete in fields outside of your usual role,” she said.

Hilton Surfers Paradise general manager Fiona Pryde said the competition encouraged creativity and friendly rivalry between colleagues.

The winners going through to the next round are Annalise Bamford, Peter Kiraly and Tsering Lama.
