TODAY:

NE windswell up to a junky 1 to 3ft exposed open beaches, mixing with underlying SE groundswel­l at a stronger 2 to 3ft across the more exposed northern NSW coasts, otherwise smaller elsewhere. WIND: NW to NNW 15 to 25 knots, shifting WNW in the late afternoon.

TOMORROW:

Small SE groundswel­l ranging from 2 to 3ft across northern NSW exposed coasts, grading to about 2ft exposed Qld breaks and smaller along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Westerly 10 to 15 knots, briefly tending NW TO NNW 10 to 15 knots, then back to the west later.

SATURDAY:

Potential for small, mid period S groundswel­l mixing with residual SE swell. Around 1 to 2ft+ early, rising to a slow 2 to 3ft northern NSW south facing beaches in the afternoon, possibly bigger later. Wrapping at a smaller 1 to 2ft at best across exposed Qld beaches, otherwise tiny to nearflat elsewhere. WIND: WSW to WNW 10 to 15 knots.

SUNDAY:

Potential for directiona­l, mid period S groundswel­l ranging from 4 to 6ft across northern NSW exposed coasts, grading to 2 to 5ft open beaches and down to a slower 2 to 3ft exposed Qld breaks and smaller again along the points and inside the bays. WIND: WNW 10 to 15 knots, tending Northerly, then NNE 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon. Potential for a late Southerly change.

MONDAY:

S swell speculativ­ely 3 to 4ft+ exposed northern NSW beaches, gradually easing during the day. Grading to 1 to 3ft exposed Qld breaks and down to a smaller 1 to 2ft inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light WSW to SW, tending variable, tending easterly 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon.

TUESDAY:

Residual SSE swell up to 2 to 3ft exposed northern NSW breaks, grading to 1 to 2ft exposed Qld breaks and tiny to near-flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light WNW to NW tending Northerly and freshening in the afternoon.
