One win from title shot

DIISTRICT stars Rosie Malone and Madison Fitzpatrick are one win away from a Champions Trophy final spot.

The Hockeyroos have two group games left in Changzhou, but a win against China tonight guarantees a finals berth against world number one the Netherlands.

A draw will mean Australia’s fate will come down to their final group game against Japan on Saturday.

The Dutch have won all three of their games so far, including a 3-0 win over Australia on Tuesday which left the Hockeyroos in second spot on the ladder.

“I hope to meet them (Netherlands) in the final ideally but we’ve got to deal with China and Japan first,” coach Paul Gaudoin said.

“We know this tournament is game by game. We know we can improve.”
