COST OF SHOP ONLY THING NOT CUT

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

A GOLD Coast barbershop will hold the title of the most expensive in Queensland when it opens in Coomera tomorrow.

And its owner says it’s worth every penny.

Owner Abbas Maqbool has spent just under half a million dollars fitting out his eighth store, the first in Queensland.

The 100 sq m shop features wood panelling, leather chairs and custommade equipment.

“Everything from the chairs to the floor to the wood ... the retail area ... everything’s quality and what we sell is quality,” Mr Maqbool said.

“You can’t do quality for cheap, ever.”

Mr Maqbool said the barbershop was about offering a complete service for the modern man.

“It’s not a claustrophobic environment like your typical barbershop,” he said.

“From the lighting to the music it’s pretty different.

“A lot of men I knew would go to the barber only to get their beards done because they couldn’t get their hair cut according to face shape or to trend at a traditional barbers.”

ManCave Barbershop officially opens at Westfield Coomera tomorrow.

On Sunday, the first 100 customers will get their hair cut for free.
