Qantas’ company tax bill first for decades
QANTAS Airways has revealed it expects to fork out $11 million in company tax for the past financial year — the first time it has paid the tax in almost a decade.
And the Flying Kangaroo says it expects a far bigger company tax bill this financial year as the spoils of its robust performance in recent years spill into the taxman’s coffers.
According to the airline’s latest annual tax transparency report, released yesterday, it paid and collected a combined $3.4 billion in tax for the year to June. That was up 7 per cent from the previous year, and includes $2.8 billion in Australian taxes. It includes $1.47 billion in ticket taxes, fees and charges levied by government authorities and airports.
