Bid to delay trial denied

STRUCK-OFF Gold Coast lawyer Michael Yarwood has lost a bid to have a trial delayed due to ill health.

Yarwood is facing a charge of engaging in legal practice when not entitled. His lawyer Michael Gatenby yesterday applied in the Southport Magistrates Court to have next week’s trial date changed due to Yarwood’s ill health.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan denied the application and the trial will go ahead on Tuesday, January 22.

Yarwood is accused of acting as a solicitor while not admitted to the Supreme Court in 2017.
