THRILLS APLENTY

NEARLY three years ago, the Gold Coast hosted the first GoPro Athlete Summit in Australia.

It lured about a 100 top athletes — among them mountain bikers, BMX riders, BASE jumpers, skydivers, skiers, snowboarders, motorsport drivers and kayakers — to the city for a three-day shop window.

Those adventure stars brought with them tens of millions of social media followers.

As reported today, the tourism sector is showing fruition from that jaunt. Adventure tourism is a serious revenue driver and the Gold Coast has the natural assets to exploit it.

The new tourism trend is a clean-living, fun extension of what the Coast was built on and further emphasises the push by city leaders to diversify visitor offerings.
