Carey talks up Finch

-

ALEX Carey has backed Australia’s one-day captain Aaron Finch to snap a devastating form slump against India at Adelaide Oval today.

Australia enter a World Cup year having lost six oneday series since beating Pakistan in January 2017.

“It would mean a lot,” Carey said yesterday. “A series win would be a great result and a big confidence booster.

“We definitely want to win a series against India, bounce back from that Test series.

“With the World Cup not too far away, to have success in Australia against one of the best white-ball sides in the world would mean a lot.”

Dumped from the Test side after averaging 16 against India, Finch scored six in the one-day series opener at the SCG on Saturday.

Fellow opener and vicecaptain Carey said that Finch was “going fine”, despite the lean run.

“(Finch) wants to bounce back, score big runs for us,”

Carey said.
