PARK HAS PLENTY ON OFFER

- ALBERT PARK, BROADBEACH

EVERY time I drive past this Gold Coast park, I wish I was stopping there.

A deep, blue lake, people walking their dogs and pathways winding through the large green trees.

It looks idyllic.

Albert Park in Broadbeach is set against the steady hum of Bermuda St, offering a familyfriendly spot to unwind.

Of course, you don’t need to have anyone else there to enjoy the spot – there’s ample room for anything you feel like doing.

At its car park, you’ll find a toilet block, barbecues, an undercover area with a picnic table and an enclosed playground for the kids. Perfect for a kids’ party.

If you take a stroll around the lake, you’ll find free exercise equipment along the path way. There are four large, open grassed areas in the park too — one hidden behind the sports field. Both of these options are perfect for those people wanting to get fit.

And yes, those areas are offleash dog-friendly, so expect a couple of pooches coming up to say hi. There’s a tap available with a bowl underneath for a quick doggie drink.

The fields are a perfect spot to spread out a blanket for a picnic, or kick the footy with your mates.

The lake itself offers nice views to its opposite side lined with native trees, Surfers Paradise buildings poking out in the background.

I think I’ve just found my midweek walking spot.
