Blue Wave is pitched into US bid

-

SURFERS Paradise pitcher Jett Hasegawa is headed to the United States.

The 18-year-old has been offered a scholarship to Miles Community College in Montana, starting in August, and has signed with the school’s baseball team, the Pioneers.

Hasegawa, who has never visited America, said he could not wait to move to world’s baseball epicentre.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to it,” he said.

“I’ve been living in Australia for all of this time so I’m excited to experience another culture.”

The Blue Wave pitcher hopes that Miles’ development program will enable him to achieve success in the game.

“I’m hoping they push me to get better and help me work on different areas of my game,” he said.

“It’s going to be a new challenge and it might be more difficult than anything I’ve done here.

“I want to go as far as I can for as long as I can.”

Hasegawa, who plans to undertake studies in the science field, has his family to thank for his emerging career.

“My dad and I experimented with different sports and baseball just stuck,” he said.

“I have to thank my parents for helping me and supporting me through training and taking me to practice and games.”
