Buyers will head for the Hamptons

- JESSICA BROWN

A LEISURELY stroll along the beach has changed a Sydney family’s life after they snapped up a multi-milliondollar Coast home that caught their eye.

They plan to move into the Hamptons-style property on Casuarina’s beachfront.

LJ Hooker Kingscliff agents Nick and Carol Witheriff had been helping the family find a home in the area when they came across the one on Daybreak Blvd.

“They just walked past it on the beachfront,” he said.

The house wasn’t on the market but Mr Witheriff said they approached the owners on behalf of the family with an offer too good to refuse.

“We approached the owners with an offer of $2.8 million,” Mr Witheriff said.

“They’ve previously had it listed with another agent for $2.5 million.

“It was taken off the market just 12 months ago.”

The four-bedroom, two bathroom residence is on a 715sq m block and has a range of designer features, including Burnt Oak timber flooring, VJ panelling, raked ceilings and custom Ralph Lauren wallpaper.

It has a media room, multiple balconies, an alfresco area, pool and outdoor shower.

The property’s sale marks a record for the street, which was previously held by the house at No.9 when it sold for $2.7 million in November last year.

It is the second off-market sale Mr Witheriff has handled in the past two weeks.

Another Hamptons-style property at Kingscliff was snapped up by a Gold Coast family for $2.85 million a week earlier.

“That will be their weekend beach house,” Mr Witheriff said.

Known as ‘the beach lounge’, the Cylinders Dve property has similar features to the Casuarina house, including VJ panelled walls, oak floors and soaring white ceilings.

Mr Witheriff said Hamptons-style properties were always snapped up quickly, which made them difficult to find.

“It’s so easy on the eye and it’s an in-trend style of home,” he said. “It just continues to be a popular style of home due to its versatility and easy maintenance.”

He was about to start marketing another Hamptonsstyle home in coming weeks, which he didn’t think would last long on the market.

“That will get snapped up quickly as well,” he said.

Both Casuarina and Kingscliff have had strong house price growth in recent years, according to CoreLogic data.

The median house price in Casuarina was $1.145 million – up 24.4 per cent over the past year, 29.7 per cent over the past three years and 69per cent over the past five years.

Kingscliff’s median house price has jumped 13.8 per cent in the past year to $933,000.

Over three years the median increased 26.8 per cent and 65.1 per cent in the past five years.
