GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ TOM HACKETT

-

WINNERS

Secondofmay (Race 1)

Backing the favourite in the opening race at the Gold Coast has proven to be a winning play in recent weeks and that was the case again on Saturday. Secondofmay was caught four wide in the early stages and had to do plenty of work to find the front, but he still proved too good for his rivals.

The Great Boombino (race 4)

We may only be just over a month into 2019, but this will be tough to beat for the most impressive win of the year at the Gold Coast. The Great Boombino went straight to the front in the early stages of this contest and simply never gave her rivals a chance. She kept on extending her lead and ending up winning by more than 10 lengths.

Parko (Race 8) Parko always looked like the good thing of the day and was too classy for his rivals. Scott Morrisey took Parko straight to the front in the early stages and it proved to be a winning move. He had his rivals off the bit a long way from home and never looked like being run down.

LOSERS

Hocked (Race 3)

Hocked was well-backed with Ladbrokes, but never really looked like a winning chance. He was under pressure a long way from home and he could only battle in the straight. I doubt that he will start anywhere near that short in his next race start.

House Of Drama (Race 7)

House Of Drama did have excuses, but this was still a fairly poor performance from the well-backed favourite. He was caught wide before he made up no ground whatsoever in the straight.

NEXT TIME

Bezzina (Race 2)

Bezzina was slightly slow out of the gates and that probably cost him victory. He was taken to the extreme outside of the track by jockey Michael Hellyer and absolutely stormed home but he was just unable to run down Boom Boy.

Fish On (Race 6)

Fish On may not have won, but still produced one of the most eye-catching performances of the day. He was settled at the tail of the field early but his last 200m was one of the day’s best.
