Comeback gone in flash
CHAUTAUQUA’S owner Rupert Legh flagged then dismissed the possibility of the “Grey Flash” making a shock comeback to racing this year.
Legh, interviewed on Brisbane’s RadioTAB yesterday, revealed Chautauqua could be brought back into work and return to racing in the spring, pending a stewards clearance.
This prompted an interesting debate on social media.
Legh later clarified the comments he had made on radio and said comeback plans for Chautauqua “won’t happen”.
The champion sprinter’s recalcitrant barrier antics led to his retirement last spring after he refused on seven occasions to leave the gates in trials.
