A FIRST-TIME festival celebrating yoga, meditation, music, vegan cooking and tantric dancing is coming to the Glitter Strip.

Thousands of people are expected to flood through the doors of the free Spirit Festival in Surfers Paradise next weekend , the first of its kind in the city.

Founder Bromwyn Corrigan, of Chameleon New Age Salon, said she had thought of the idea just a month ago – and immediately put the call out for potential stall holders.

“It’s a wild idea, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew, but it’s going really well and we are so excited for the day,” she said.

“We’ve been working really hard on it and managing the business at the same time, it’s full on.

“I just get these harebrained ideas and we action it straight away then work out logistics as we go along.”

The festival will have 30 stalls set up within the large hairdressing salon and store, offering unique handmade items, vegan cooking displays, essential oils, drumming, mediation, yoga, tantric dancing, crystals, and art.

Tantric dancing was a type of moving meditation using old techniques, and had seen a recent resurgence of interest, Ms Corrigan said.

There will also be inspiration speakers, energy healings, a mediumship demonstration and a cocoa ceremony on show.

Ms Corrigan said her spiritual journey began when she was a teenager but took off when she began selling salt lamps six years ago, leading her to expand her business.

The Spirit Festival will be held on Sunday, March 24. It starts at 10am and finishes 6pm.
