Face it, there’s nothing to do but housework

-

GOLD Coast social media sensation Gabby Epstein says she got her housework done yesterday while Facebook and Instagram crashed.

The sites experienced glitches from 4am yesterday prompting the 24-year-old with 2.2 million followers to ditch her livelihood and reach for the cleaning products.

Esptein, who earns tens of thousands of dollars for a single Instagram post, said: “I’ve just been at home cleaning the whole day.

“It’s kinda like a nice break to be honest. It’s like being on a long flight without your phone and being unable to check people’s status.

“I have things to post but I can post them another time. It is my full-time job so I hope it’s not down for too long.”

Usually, she shows off her globetrotting lifestyle, modelling in stunning locations, but yesterday was spent indoors.

Gold Coast YouTuber, Instagrammer and make-up artist Jasmine Hand, 24, wasn’t fazed by the shutdown but knew some in the industry who were.

“Some influencers have paid sponsored posts that need to be up by a certain time,” she said.

Like Ms Epstein, Ms Hand was also spending the day tidying and filming for YouTube.

“It’s been a bit weird. I wake up and check my social medias and then I show what I’m up to throughout the day,” she said.

“I can get my house chores done. It’s crazy because the whole world has stopped because there’s no social media. It’s a bit annoying but life goes on and there’s more important things to focus on.”

Ex-Big Brother contestant Skye Wheatley managed to post an Instagram story telling her 600,000 fans: “Haha y’all need to get off your phones... including me. I just freaked out because I couldn’t post on my story. SAD.”

There has been no official reason of why the social media platforms glitched.
