PROUD TO BE SUNS’ NO.1 FANS

- TOM BOSWELL

THE Gold Coast Suns have crowned their inaugural number one ticket holders as they prepare to officially launch their 2019 season.

Foundation members Bruce Coulson and Jill Mathieson will this morning be the first to be bestowed the honour in the lead up to the Suns’ eighth AFL season.

Coulson, founder of Kool Kids Early Education Centres, has been a longterm supporter of the Suns.

“I’ve been involved with the Suns now for close to 10 years, I’m honoured by the opportunity and look forward to doing whatever I can to deepen the club’s footprint throughout the community,” Coulson said.

“I’ve experienced firsthand the work this club does in the community, but also how hard they are working on field to be successful.”

Mathieson’s husband barracks for Carlton but she has backed Gold Coast since their inception into the AFL.

“My husband has been involved with Carlton for a long time, but when we moved to the Gold Coast and the Suns received their AFL licence, I knew I had no choice but to throw my support behind the local team,” she said. “I’m very proud of the opportunity.”

Suns CEO Mark Evans said the pair had supported the club through various ways including the men’s and women’s sections, talent academy and community programs.
