Yarwoods skip court
FORMER Meter Maids boss and struck-off lawyer Michael Yarwood and his wife did not show up to a court hearing to determine claims a barrister made threats against them.
The two matters were dismissed from the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday after Mr Yarwood and his wife Jacqueline did not attend the hearing.
Last August Mr Yarwood made a peace and good behaviour application to force barrister Chris Garlick to be of “good behaviour’’ towards the couple, claiming he made threats against them.
Outside court, Mr Garlick slammed the allegations as completely false.
“They were designed to do as much damage as they could to my professional reputation,” Mr Garlick said.
He said they were designed to stop him looking into claims Mr Yarwood made against Joseph “Will the Wrecker” Smith.
Mr Smith earlier won a court battle in which Justice Glenn Martin ordered Mr Yarwood pay $1.65 million, interest of $204,866 and court costs that could total $500,000.
The court row began when Mr Yarwood claimed about $1.95 million was owed to him after Mr Smith allegedly terminated his management and administrative services agreement in May last year.
