SOUTHS’ B & B OFFERS FANS A TREAT

- DEAN RITCHIE

SOUTH Sydney last night set up their own B & B and it paid immediate dividends. Burns and Burgess. Four tries in a stunning 17-minute period early in the second half turned last night’s NRL match on its head. St George Illawarra had totally outplayed and out-enthused Souths to lead 12-6 at halftime.

But it changed ever so quickly. One, two, three, four – all between the 43rd and 60th minutes. All tries unanswered. Game over.

And it was young gun Braidon Burns and old head Sam Burgess who starred.

Burgess scored a try after just three minutes of the second half to kick-start Souths’ comeback. He then set up another for Cody Walker before crossing for his second.

“Burgess is one of the greatest ever. He is the best player I have seen in the last 10 years,” said former Test forward Paul Vautin.

Burns was dangerous all night too, scoring his own try in the 55th minute.

Bunnies coach Wayne Bennett was so impressed with Burns he named him at left centre – and shifted legendary Greg Inglis to the right.

The B & B pair went unstoppable. Burns ran for 168m and Burgess 157.
