Only injury is to pride

-

SCANS cleared Clayton Gallagher of any serious injuries on Saturday night, but his tumble before the sixth event at Eagle Farm did lead to an almost comical chain of events.

The race had to be delayed by half an hour because of precautions taken moving the apprentice off the track after his fall on Hard Strike, and then to wait for another ambulance to arrive on course.

While this was happening, a helicopter was on standby to transport Brad Stewart and Tegan Harrison to the Gold Coast for the Goldmarket, a race that had to be delayed waiting for their arrival.

Eagle Farm was put back as well and, with sunlight fading fast, trainers were rushed to saddle up for the last event and three runners arrived in the mounting yard sporting the wrong saddles.
