BRAVES ARE CHAMPS AFTER THRILLER

- ELIZA REILLY

THE Robina Braves capped off their dominant Gold Coast Baseball Association division two season with a thrilling one-run win over Surfers Paradise in yesterday’s grand final.

Robina only dropped one game the entire season on their way to a championship to remember.

Despite going down 12-2 the last time the two sides met, Surfers were determined to write a different script and scored three runs in the opening innings before Robina piled on eight to take a five-run lead into the second innings.

From there, Surfers added another six runs to their tally but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Brave boys, who added only two more runs to their tally to win 10-9.

In the GCBA division one grand final, Twin City overcame Robina to claim a fiverun win.

Coomera were too strong for Surfers in the final match of the day, with the Cubs winning 10-4 in the division three decider.
