GOLD Coast clubs have continued their stellar start to 2019 with three teams leaving Brisbane as champions of Basketball Queensland’s Junior Basketball Competition.
Seven Coast sides competed across six grand finals at the weekend, with the under-16 Waves girls, under-18 North Gold Coast Seahawks boys and under-21 Seahawks boys claiming victory.
The Gold Coast Waves staked their claim on the local basketball rivalry with a huge 85-42 win over cross-town foes the North Gold Coast Seahawks in the under-16 girls’ Premier League final.
The Seahawks under-18 boys claimed a 10-point win over the Southern District Titans in the Southern Cup, while the under-21 men narrowly defeated the Toowoomba Mountaineers 79-71 to claim the Southern Cup title.
Under-16 Gold Cost Rollers girls, under-16 boys Waves and under-18 boys Waves lost their deciders, with the former being by a mere point.
