Don’s not so fair-way

HE took up the sport at university, owned 17 courses at the time of becoming president and calls golf “more than a game – it is a passion”.

But Donald Trump’s alleged methods of cheating on the golf course have been described in detail by a US sports writer.

Rick Reilly, who played a round with Mr Trump at one of his New York courses before he entered politics, claimed he lied about his score, wanted second attempts at a shot saying he had been distracted, and hit other players’ balls that were closer to the hole.

Caddies nicknamed Mr Trump ‘Pele’ because he would kick the ball to move it to a better position, Mr Reilly claimed.

He added: ‘Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf. He cheats like a three-card monte dealer.” Mr Trump has previously denied cheating claims.
