Nazi hunter dies age 92

-

THE former Israeli spy who led the audacious capture of Nazi Adolf Eichmann has died at 92.

Rafi Eitan, who died at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, commanded an eight-man team that kidnapped Eichmann, the mastermind of the Nazis’ Final Solution, from his hiding place in Argentina.

Eichmann was drugged and spirited secretly out of South America by plane to Israel, where he was tried and hanged in 1962.

Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu said: “Rafi was one of the heroes of Israel.”
