Girls filmed stomping on car, yelling abuse
GOLD Coast residents have voiced their disapproval after two young girls were filmed stomping on a car and yelling homophobic slurs at a busyshopping centre.
On Monday afternoon local Janine Clelland videoed the bizarre sight at Westfield Helensvale Shopping Centre.
Two young girls, aged under 10, can be seen jumping up and down on a white car and stomping on the bonnet.
They also yell homophobic slurs and have been accused of spitting on security officers and people passing by.
On social media, Mara Alexandra said she watched them for 45 minutes, claiming they kicked and punched the security guards before she yelled at them to “to have respect”.
Another shopper, Jasmine Hillyr, said they made her son cry when they called her a “f---king arsehole.”
Ms Clelland said the children were later revealed to be foster children and “rebelling against something”.
“We didn’t see it start, we just saw these girls jumping on the roof and bonnet of the car. They were swearing and spitting at security and other people in the car park.
“Police came and it stopped when they put them in the back of the car. Police then spoke to the carer, and were still there when we left.”
The children were later returned to the carer, police told the Bulletin.
Others online expressed sympathy at their plight, saying there could be something “bigger going on here”.
Vanessa Herd said: “Kids that young doing this behaviour are screaming for help.”
Tammy Bravo said: “Sad to see so much judgment being passed by the public. Everyone needs to back off and let the support workers or carers do their thing.”
A Scentre Group spokesperson said “the safety and security of our customers, employees and retail partners is always our priority. This is now a matter for the Queensland Police Service.”
No charges have been laid.
