UNITED FURY

‘WE DIDN’T END ON GOOD TERMS’

-

HERO OF THE WEEK

Jedd Sudgen starred with a hat-trick as Coast League One outfit Robina City made a statement with a 7-1 thrashing of Centenary Stormers in the FFA Cup on Saturday. The result, which also saw a Trent Barwick double, followed a 9-0 win over Pacific Pines in Round 1 of the Coast League.

VILLAIN OF THE WEEK

Nerang’s Alistair Davis went from hero to villain quickly on Saturday, scoring an equaliser against Broadbeach United before missing a last-minute penalty that would have delivered a 3-2 PL win.

RISING STOCKS

After a tough initiation to the Brisbane Women’s Premier League, Coomera have begun to find their feet, underlined by their 4-0 demolition of North Brisbane on Sunday.

FALLING STOCKS

Having opened the season with back-to-back victories, Gold Coast United’s NPL Women’s outfit have now gone three games without a win and was handed a second straight loss with a 5-1 thumping from Souths United on Sunday.

GOSSIP CORNER

They are two from two in the Premier League and thrashed Brisbane Knights 9-1 in the FFA Cup on Sunday but don’t be surprised if Surfers Paradise strengthen their squad with an NPL recruit or two in the coming days.

The NPL season has been largely smooth sailing for the Gold Coast Knights and Gold Coast United but there’s a growing feeling of discontent within one of the playing groups. Watch this space. WEEKLY FOOTBALL PODCAST: Online
